Failure message: Invalid address

Here are the reasons you might be receiving this error:

The page is not A4 format (297 x 210 mm)

Here's how to fix this using Adobe Acrobat:

1. Open your PDF: Open the PDF file you want to modify with Adobe Acrobat. 
    
2. Access Print Settings: Go to File > Print or press Ctrl+P (Windows) or Cmd+P (Mac). 
    
3. Choose Microsoft Print to PDF: In the printer dropdown, select Microsoft Print to PDF 
   
   
4. Click on Properties and then Advanced...: Click on 'Properties' and in the new window that opens click the 'Advanced...' button
    
5. Select A4: In the Paper/Output dialog, find the paper size dropdown and select A4. 
    
6. Confirm and Print: Click OK in the Page Setup dialog, then click Print in the main print dialog. Choose a location to save your resized PDF. 

 

The address is not in the watchzone

Here is the zone where the address must be (barring a custom set watchzone via a workflow):

 

The text in your PDF is not selectable/readable

If you're unable to select or copy text from your PDF, it usually means the PDF was created as an image-based file rather than text-based. This happens most often when scanning physical documents into PDFs or saving documents incorrectly.

What to do:

1. Ensure your original document contains selectable text (not just an image).

2. Save your file as a text-based PDF:

   • From Microsoft Word, click File, then choose Save As.

   • Select PDF from the file format options and ensure it's set to retain text formatting.

3. If scanning, use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software to convert image-based PDFs into selectable text.

 

Your address is fewer than 3 lines

Addresses must have at least 3 lines.

For Postworks to process and deliver your mail correctly, each address must include at least three lines of text. This helps our systems verify addresses quickly and ensures accurate delivery.

What to do:

1. Check the address you're trying to use.

2. Make sure it includes at least:

   • Recipient name or company name

   • Street address or PO Box

   • Town or city, postcode (and country if sending internationally)

3. Add any missing information to reach the required minimum of three lines.
