Quick Start Guide
Get started fast! This quick start guide will walk you through the essential steps to upload your first letter and begin sending with Postworks.
Welcome to Postworks! This guide will help you upload your first letter and get it into the post in just a few minutes.
To begin, log in to the Postworks Portal and on the left-hand side go under Send.
1. Configure your Postbox
Under My Postboxes, you will see an Example Postbox. Click the three dots next to it and select Edit.

From this screen, you can choose your printing and postage preferences:
-
Print: Colour or black print.
-
Postage: 1st or 2nd class.
-
Sides: Single or double-sided.
-
Extras: Add attachments or Digital Reply Envelopes (DREs) if required.
Once you are happy with these choices, click Save.

2. Upload your document
You can now upload your PDF by clicking Browse files or by dragging and dropping the file directly into the postbox window.
3. Preview and finalise
A preview window will appear once the file is uploaded. Check the document to ensure everything appears correct. After you approve the preview, your items move to the Post Tray.

Please note: Items stay in the Post Tray for 30 minutes before they are processed. This gives you a chance to recall an item if you spot a mistake. Items can no longer be recalled after they've moved out of the Post Tray.
4. Split method
If the item you're uploading requires it to be split between multiple recipients, you can create a new postbox and choose your split method:
-
No split: Use this if your PDF is one single letter for one recipient.
-
Split by page: Use this if every page in your PDF is a separate letter for a different person.
-
Split by keyword: The system looks for a specific word (like 'Invoice') to start a new letter. This is helpful for documents that vary in length.
-
Merge: This allows you to upload a data file and a Word template to create a personalised letter for everyone on your list. For further details, please refer to our How to use Merge on Postworks portal support article.
