When we are scanning your inbound post, will I get charged for blank sides of a letter?
No. The system is designed to identify (and remove) blank pages from documents.
For example, a 5 sheet letter, printed single sided, should result in a 5 page PDF and charge at 5 pages.
Thresholds
There is a threshold set to identify pages of ultra low content (ie 1%) and consider them a blank, for example, a page number which would be removed automatically.
There is an inevitable threshold to this feature. This is because things, like paper transparency, can create a situation that the scanner assumes the reverse to have content when in fact it's the print of the front.
It's more important we don't miss vital pages in your letters.
Secondary to that, if the mail item itself has been bashed around in the delivery process and is heavily creased, this can sometimes be misinterpreted as content, although rare.
Checking charges
You should be able to check charges based on the number of pages and the price displayed next to the item.
